I'm a Lighthouse
I've been standing on this precipice for as long as I can remember
Countless storms have come and have gone
They tried with all their might to batter and ram me with their unforgiving gusts
But in the end, I remain unbothered, seemingly unscathed, waiting for another storm to pass.
Many vessels have sailed and passed me by
Some during the day and they use me as a landmark
Some during the dead of the night, and my light is their only guide
Small boats that bobbed and tossed by the raging waves and big steel ships that could slice through the depths
Some were able to traverse, but many have met their unfortunate fate
They spiralled down into the belly of the ocean until they're no where in sight
I had a lot of friends that I don't get to see anymore...
The seagulls that glide and play in the morning, maneuvering in the air while waiting for their catch
As well as the dolphins and whales, who call each other as if they're long lost brothers
They all have left me, and I don't know if they'll ever return
But, I'll wait for them as long as it takes...I've terribly missed them. Please be back soon, please...
I've been standing on this precipice for as long as I can remember
And it feels like I've been here for an eternity
The glitter of the stars in the evening looks dimmer than ever
And the moon wanes more often than I can recall
Everything's changed, everyone's moved on
But, I remained the same, just older, but the same
Because, I'm a lighthouse, your lighthouse.
