The People's Tyrant
A man of the people, he claimed to be,
But he had no discernable philosophy,
Except to do what was best for him.
He governed by acting on a whim.
Cruel to both his enemies and acolytes,
He believed only the weak avoided a fight.
Every time he spoke it was his chance
To air an imaginary grievance.
Words for him were not vessels of truth,
If caught in a lie, his reply was to dispute.
For when you believe the throne is where you belong,
You can never tolerate being told you are wrong.
As for the forgotten people he claimed to represent,
He preferred to drink and dine with the one percent.
The masses were on their own to live and die.
They had been brainwashed to believe his big lie.
