Spring came early to us this year,
Flowers blossomed in the yards,
Birds built nests to lay their eggs,

Rebirth after the winter long,
Perfumed air assailed our senses,

Each morning greeted with songs,
To greet the rising sun,

A sudden change – a killing frost,
Petals fell from flowers and trees,

No more perfumed scents,

Then nature took back her promised spring,
One cold snap was all it took,
