To be honest I think it's because people don't know what poetry is. I've seen a lot of work on this site that is not poetic in anyway shape or form so people don't want to join slams because they don't even know how to categorize their stuff. Just because something is literary its not poetry. Contrary to popular belief Poetry and Prose are actually antonyms (look it up). I might add some lyrics on here just to help you get this one started. Stay tuned

when you post your poems/lyrics in your finished section you must put them in the lyrics category. then when you join here it will pull up any poems you have in that category. you can change any category listing by choosing modify when you go to your poem/lyric. once you do this they will be eligible for this slam. you can choose from any of your poems/lyrics that come up once you click an empty slot. but first get them categorized and it will work for you. hope this helps.
