The significance of the numbers is that of three rounds to commemorate 11/11/11.

I liked your poem and I agree with that other guy, we will never learn. We will all wipe each other off the face of the Earth

I have voted and am lucky to read such wonderful words from all.
Mark- thank you for doing this. We must never forget any of the atrocities of barbaric human conflict, with its sacrifices so that others live free- We hail them and pray for peace.

I'm only sad because one will win the slam; they're all solid writings. Good luck, gang!

“Ode of Remembrance”

Laurence Binyon's "For the Fallen",

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

"Lest we should forget"
