Dreaming of Love

I'm dreaming of love but it's not romance
it's a gentle word and an innocent dance
it's not about lust or even sex
it's about lowering my guard so i don't have to flex
It's about care and concern and even thought
as each day i grow in anxieties plot

I don't want to have to fight everyone everyday
i just want to have fun relax and play
say what's on my mind with out having to battle
but these kids that i know only want to tattle
I dream of a love that doesn't exist
i dream of an intimacy but all resist

I dream of conversation that exudes a joy
but the ones i have simply gnaw and annoy
I dream of a love a reflection of me
Narcissus returns Echo laughs at me

I create my dream and dance with illusion
and die in the truth sad with confusion
Hope in a thought sadness today
I dream of a love that is so far away.

a dream is but a dream
we all want it,,,some of us more than others
this is a lovely poem
kind of sad ,...
but i enjoyed it!!! Very Happy

Twelve, this is the start of good love poem-perhaps if you workshoped this, you'd have an even better piece. As it stands, the rhymes are forced to make this work, and the meter is a bit ragged.

I really really like gentleness of this - not like your other more hardcore stuff that I've read - I didnt comment cause I wasn't sure how to respond - but this a part of you I can relate to!
