Candy Stripe Dreams - 8: A Most Awkward Predicament

by Ramonez

A green blur of a road sign;
Shitville, I think it read.
‘Over the next hill,’
my abductor confirms,
‘only ten more miles ahead.’

Flashes of glow worm eyes
in the rearview mirror,
he takes a deep drag
of an English fag,
then smirks - teeth silver.

On the passenger seat,
a potted plant he calls ‘Jules’;
he ashes on her leaves
and strokes her flower -
he giggles, and drools.

My bladder’s bursting.
The backseat’s uncomfortable;
the vinyl is ripped,
springs are poking through—
I spot a Coke bottle…

Wormeye’s leaning over,
he’s tuning the FM;
I’m leaning forward,
the skin of my cuffed hand
comes off – red custard.

Reception’s poor in the hills.
Wormeye struggles to find
Redneck FM for a while;
he shouts fuck-whore-cunt!,
and breaks off the dial.

The road is bumpy,
and the empty’s out of reach.
The speakers crackle
to a life distorted
from under the driver’s seat.

An unexpected turn,
left onto a gravel road;
Wormeye’s foot is heavy
on the brake pedal –
he grins – teeth now gold.

He points his gun at me,
coughs, and asks if I have
anything to say.

“Please pull the trigger,
I have kidney pains.”

This is a scary one mate, it kind of reminded me of the Aussie movie Wolf Creek. If I had a dream like that I would keep a knife under my bed. Any chance of a continuation of this one?

I may be demented but I got quite a chuckle from this. “Please pull the trigger,
I have kidney pains.”
Pythonesque! I loved it.
