match point game

It shocks me that you call me a close friend.
You act as if nothing happened.
You say nothing did.
You still call, ask for advice.
Why would you not say, goodbye, to her.
Because, you like me, are afraid.
Just as I won’t say, goodbye, to him.
Our similarities are scary.
Words you say, I have said before.
You pretend, just as I.
What we want, expect, is the same.
We fell in love, lust, call it what you may.
Filling in what the other knew they needed.
We realize we complete the other.
It can’t happen now, maybe later.
So who’s the best player?
The people who are using us, or each other?
Match, point, game.

I like the back and forth way this poem is constructed, like a tennis match.
