Wren ( 61 reads) Thursday, November 05, 2009 (03:50:18)

Wren is an obscure trip-hop artist, better known as a semi-popular youtuber, named saturninefilms. Most of his music is not particularly good, but there is one particular gem of his. This song is Kids, but even this is incredibly flawed. It suffers from bad lyrics in the second half of the song, and since the lyrics are an important part of Wren's music, (he writes poetry also, it's pretty damn good too) this heavily negates the power of the song. The first half of the song is very well written, though, and the music is pretty good for an underground trip-hop artist. I'm going to write the lyrics to the first half now, and invite you to come to your own conclusions on Wren.

Lyrics:
"I don't bother with much
I lead my life and I touch
Those willing to open their minds and find
Calamity is happening

Everybody is scared and nobody will care
For the kid now stuck in an adults body
For the group of kids who got to know me
Didn't go to school instead dropped out
Got drunk
Fucked sluts

Knocked 'em up and then they left us
For the world
Dying young deep in the couch
Somebody gotta let the garbage out

But optimism inside of me is so hard to see
It's so hard to be alive when you want to die
I'm innocent

She said I wasn't a way
But that I was a way out
She said she couldn't stay
But that I wouldn't let her out
She said I wasn't a way
She said there wasn't a way
She said I wasn't a way
But that I was a way out"

To understand much of these lyrics as best you can, you need to know his life story. But even without intimate knowledge of this starving poet, you can still see he's very good at what he does. I sincerely hope he can maintain poetry throughout the entirety of a song in the future. For more information on this song and others by Wren, check out youtube.com/saturninefilms.

I hope you enjoy his introspection as much as I do.
