I don't watch much T.V. simply because I'm usually too busy plus the fact that there is very few truly original t.v. shows that show any kind of originality in my opinion... but then again thats what I'm posting this for.... what constitutes a good television show, what are a few of your favorite t.v. shows? And why? What makes it so good to you? I do have a few...

My absolute favorite would have to be The Big Bang Theory.
Its very original, absolutely hilarious, and is about geeks...so alot of the jokes that make people scratch their heads, I get...
I havnt heard one bad comment about it, and everyone I've introduced it to has become addicted. No matter who they are.
I believe that makes it a pretty freaking good show.
Lol

well I thoroughly enjoy these shows;
Fringe
Dexter
It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia
Band of Brothers
and I guess I'll say that what constitutes a good T.V. has a lot to do with talent; which means even a good actor/ess can make an uncompelling topic seem moreso than it maybe is under different circumstances. budget doesn't necessarily factor in as much, as long as I am overwhelmed and immersed in the story / characters / ect...
I could go on, but these are a couple main things I look for when watching a Pilot for a new show.

I'd have to agree with the acting bit...probably why I despise soap operas...its horrible...over dramatized melarky...lol.
Acting makes a world of a difference to a script.

no ordinary family, the event, and classic reruns from the 70's. i like no ordinary family because it's just regular people...not drop-dead gorgeous, incredibly rich, typical tv people....the event is my newest fave, mostly because i believe there's aliens out there, and they're likely not all that different from us, which is well depicted on the show...and who doesn't like good times, the jeffersons, and facts of life?

I like to watch NFL football. A new show called "Parenthood" is pretty good. Cash Cab, Mythbusters, Family Guy, King of the Hill. That's pretty much it.
There are WAY too many cop, doctor, and lawyer shows. They bore me.
I loved "Lost" when it was on..but I felt like a jilted bride after the anti-climactic ending, which made no freakin' sense.

A few I like to watch are:
House - always a good plot and great acting. Hugh Laurie as drug addicted genius plays the part so well you don't care about his vicodin (sp) addiction. The plots are always intense.
Psych - funny and entertaining with enough drama to keep it interesting.
Monk - although it's canceled I still catch the reruns. another one of those that has such great character development - same with the two mentioned above - that you get into the characters lives.
so i guess that's what constitutes a good show for me. one where the writers are so good they get you to care about the characters and like them or hate them you feel part of what's going on each week.

****SPOILERS****SPOILERS****SPOILERS****SPOILERS****SPOILERS*****
I was heavily reminded of Six Feet Under's finale; "Everybody's Waiting". seemed to me these people ( Lost ) had gone through such an experience with each other, that they wanted to go into the next life together... I thought it was sort of beautiful in a way, so simple an ending as to make all the complexities in the series almost seem moot in its face.

NFL! Who's your team?
I was intrested in "parenthood" but I havnt gotten around to actually seing an episode. On a scale of one to ten what would you say? Is it worth putting down a good book for?
Cash Cab is awsome. Like trivial pursuit but more entertaining. Lol.
Some Cop and Dr. shows are pretty good. NCIS, Criminal Minds, and HOUSE are actually really intresting. THe original CSI was too. Like seasons one and two, after that I lost intrest.
