We have a tie this time and there are three winners. The winning poems
Luck of the 'I wish'
by thewholesoul
You work your fingers to the bone
With far more talent than your peers
Yet get to watch your chances blown
And every wish reduced to tears
When lady luck is hardly known
How sheer unjust one’s life appears.
But all us born what luck we’ve had
Each blessed to win that crucial race
Of twenty million sperm from Dad
‘Twas you and I who won first place !
So if you’re lacking luck and sad
Chin up I say and show some grace.
There is no guarantee you see
That wishes will and do come true
For lady luck most certainly
Does not belong to me or you
But loans her service randomly
And only to a fluky few.
But if you’re truly talentless
And lady luck waves au revoir
And all your peers enjoy success
With trophy wives and sporty cars
Unless you cheat and steal I guess
Your wishes won’t go very far.

Luck Of The I-Wish
( Dedicated to my beautiful and loving wife. )
by jh89
With a rabbit still attached
To it's little foot,
A four leaf clover in the field
Hangs on to it's root,
Horses dance with shoes intact
Never above my door,
No salt over my shoulder
I just swept the floor
The luck of the I wish ?
Maybe, with a love like this.
Wishbones stay on the platter
Not pulling them apart,
I have no need of charms
Since you took my heart,
Rainbows have no pot of gold
Nor dancing Leprechauns,
Not relying on lucky symbols
When all I need...is you in my arms.
The luck of the I wish ?
Maybe, with a love like this.

and
I Wish
by fogglethorpe
I wish that night was filled with light,
and noon was filled with gray;
I wish the old could be retold,
and futures were passé.
I wish the sky was not so high,
nor earth so far below;
I wish that fate could set no date,
and wishing made it so.
I wish that blue was never true,
and love, a novelty;
my dearest wish is simply this:
that you were here with me.

I have Bogeyman's comments here for the three winning poems
1. Interesting rhyme scheme, brutal reality portrayed with humor
2. Humorous and romantic, nice
3. He convinced me – very nice!

Also Loisseau's comment for poem no. 1 by thewholesoul.
a fine wry poem in rhyme that doesn't disturb the message of the poem.

Here are my comments:
All three winners
It's refreshing to read poetry that has both unforced rhymes and good meter. All three of these poems accomplished that very well.
Luck of the 'I wish' by thewholesoul
The message was simple and clear, and most readers can relate to it. Besides, I just plain like sestets.
'Luck Of The I-Wish' by jh89
Leave it to JH89 to make this a "love lost" poem. Quite out of the box for this theme.
'I Wish' by fogglethorpe
I like the interior rhymes of this piece, which were very inventive. Again, changing the theme to "missing you" made for a more interesting read.
Well done and congrats to all three poets.

1. I liked the dark nature of this one.
2. So much love couldn't go unnoticed .
3. brought a smile to my face and loved the flow of this one.

Thank you judges and to be near the other two is humbling to say the least. Thank you everyone for the kind comments. I might change my name to " outofthebox " naw jh89 is fine. Thank you again.

Congratulations to all three winners, three submissions each with a unique perspective and all wonderfully penned. I appreciate the rawness of thewholesoul's piece, the appealing lilt of jh89's wonderful love poem, and the lyrical perfection of fogglethorpe's submission. Well done, one and all.
