As Time Goes By

I once gave a little girl in a red dress,
A simple daisy chain of flowers.
She placed it upon her hair as if a crown,
…that made my day!

I pinned a corsage on her prom dress,
A large white and purple orchid.
She kissed me lightly on the cheek,
…that made my day!

She came down the aisle in a white gown,
Holding her bridal bouquet of pink roses.
Waiting at the altar I saw her smile at me,
…that made my day!

Dressed in a robe on her first wedding anniversary,
She opened a box of 12 long-stemmed red roses.
Tears came to her eyes and fell down her cheek.
…that made my day!

On our 50th Anniversary she wore a silk suit to renew our vows,
Together we walked up to the altar, she with a Bible in her hand.
There she opened the book and showed me a pressed daisy chain.
…that made my life!
