Just Writing

I want to write.
I want to feel words pulsing, expanding so rapidly onto the paper before me
that I can half-heartedly say
yes, I know what I said or
yes, I know what I meant
when I honestly
DON'T
because
I just can't afford to miss the quick rush
so I ecstatically
forget meaning and I
dodge definition
so I that can feel that too-long buried sensation of
writing.
See, I want to write because
I haven't written in SO long
and this long seems like an eternity
the eternity that a gambling addict experiences
after the attempts of gaming abstinence
only to reemerge on that
all-too-familiar casino scene.
because writing is freedom, writing is spirituality
it's the story of my world in my words
I'll write to unleash my demons,
my secrets, truths and lies,
writing is enlightenment
it's finding love
when you think you've lost it
it's appreciating life in all its elements, all its aspects.
Writing until there's no tomorrow
until I find the solution to
the conflicting opposition between stubborn country powers
and an antidote to the spreading epidemic we know and despise as AIDS
I will continue to write so
I can free the women from their hated oppression in the third-world countries
I'll write until I not only see
but JOIN them
in their emancipation
I'll write until I become
the cunning, crowned Cleopatra who
falls so heavy in love with the victorious Caesar
or until I become doomed Anne Boleyn who is
trapped
beyond all comprehension by the invisible reins
that notorious Henry the VII holds
only to set myself free
Why not let me write until
I find the man who is
"scrubbing my pain with his finger"
and gently
"singing my life with his words"
Just let me write until my
skin unfolds and slithers off my curvy stature
so I can show you my soul.

I want to write, simply because, writing is my
r e l i g i o n.
