POEM OF THE MONTH - JUNE 2011 - WON BY WYLDE [4]
she wears auburn eyes [5]
.
she wears auburn eyes
in a slash
along a pasty magenta mind
those satin chameleon fingers
lurch in every thought
that lick those slit
anklets which shoulder
nefarious dreams
and when moments call
from behind the char-cold alleys
the lashes beneath the fronds
stiletto the truth between
aubergine toes - shes (metaphorically) blonde
POEM OF THE MONTH - MAY 2011 - WON BY ANGELS [6]
lows to rise [7]
bamboozled in the apex of transcending emotionality
with lows to rise within the high fallen caves
cavities emptied before fulfillment
in disbelief of nothings to come
an evaporation of celluloid
birthing cries stoked
sealed in flaming caskets
intoxicating blur drip thru steel vein drops
the womb is my secret room
my window to life.
POEM OF THE MONTH - APRIL 2011 - WON BY WYLDE [8]
[blankly with omniscience] [9]
.
frangipani waxed lyrics
in bougainvillaea carmines
needle speakers
while trunks extend to the moon
whiffs of dandelion salad
gently begin to croon
as ears of gold
bend and fold in creasing stalks
beginning to swoon
trumpets brass sway
weaving symphonies
threaded on convoluted looms
in the humbled presence
of i's blinking
blankly with omniscience
POEM OF THE MONTH - MARCH 2011 - WON BY ZBIRD [10]
A Box of Memories (pantoum) [11]
Holding nothing but a box of memories
of long forgotten friends and lovers
my generation is on a race with death.
As the days move quickly by, thoughts
of long forgotten friends and lovers
suddenly fills our minds and hearts.
As the days move quickly by, thoughts
numb as another one passed away and
suddenly fills our minds and hearts.
I am overcome with sadness and cry
numb, as another passed away and
among their ghostly graves
I am overcome with sadness and cry,
with only memories to comfort me
among their ghostly graves.
Do I want to be the last one, alone
with only memories to comfort me?
My generation is on a race with death,
do I want to be the last one, alone
holding nothing but a box of memories.
POEM OF THE MONTH - FEBRUARY 2011 - WON BY MERCIA [12]
In Humanity [13]
Tired faces wearing sorrows of a thousand years
Disillusioned eyes in pain filled with a thousand tears
Desolation painting circles in the dust choked air
Tramping of a million footsteps dragging to nowhere
Desperation laughing loudly grabbing every chance
Poverty smiles sweet as hunger does its’ frenzied dance
Children, bellies swollen, baring teeth through dry, cracked lips
Tiny bodies shiver, tremble - malnutrition grips
Stench of human suffering is ever commonplace
Needs a flood or hurricane to wipe out its disgrace
Toss a coin and in reverse a very different story
Beautiful is everywhere and life is in its glory
Smiling faces wearing pleasures of a thousand years
Eyes aglow and healthy filled with laughter, never tears
Happiness is painting circles in the clean, fresh air
Dancing of a million footsteps tap dance everywhere
Total pleasure laughs aloud – alive is good to be;
No such thing as hunger, no such thing as misery.
Golden children, perfect smiles reflecting perfect teeth
Designer clothes, from top to toes, to places underneath
Stench of wealthy, healthy people fills God’s universe
Wonder what that top half did to invocate His curse?
POEM OF THE MONTH - JANUARY 2011 - WON BY HUBERJACK [14]
Roadside Optimism [15]
Fragments of nature, standing - against a blue background,
in austere attention, - flavescent sunflowers
dominate the roadside with - hope for man to notice
stunning beauty and intricacy, - decorous elegance and symmetry,
but also unobtrusive delicacy - intimating staggering prevalence
of nature's copious domain - and offering unending optimism.
