POET OF THE MONTH - DECEMBER 2008 - WON BY CARALOUANN
NAME : Cara Louann Endsley Greenlee
MY BIRTHDAY : April 3rd, 1979
LOCATION : Columbus, Ohio
http://www.gotpoetry.com/Your_Account/profile=4215.html
I am a mother of three wonderful children Trysten 9, Logan 3 and Gracie 1. I have a wonderful loving husband who is also a member of Gotpoetry. His name is Mark or drunkenram. http://www.gotpoetry.com/Your_Account/profile=4238.html
I enjoy camping, fishing, crocheting, spending time with my family, [my new favorite thing] writing and conversing with new poets.
I do not work I am a full time mother. My wonderful husband works and makes enough money to support us.
My inspiration to write was because of my new found Aunt. What do I mean by that? My mom was adopted and 5 years ago I was researching my ancestry when I found her searching for her own father as my Mom's. Just recently in August, I got back in touch with her again and showed her my first poem "In the Moonlight". She told me she has been writing since her teens, and that my poem was very good and I should write more. So I did. On September 17, 2007, I started my journey of being a poet. Thanks to gotpoetry my husband and I now have something to enjoy doing together [he has written in the past, but my new interest sparked his muse].
Another inspiration was found during my ancestry studies. I found out that I may be a possible distant relative of Emily Dickinson [I haven't really researched enough yet to know for sure].
My favorite writer would probably have to be Robert Frost. I enjoy nature and he seems to write a lot about it.

DOB: 16/7
Location: Brizbane or "BriZbanG!" - (as I like to call it), queensland, Australia.
http://www.gotpoetry.com/Your_Account/profile=3466.html
Influences: "The Jerry Cornelius Quartet", "The New Nature Of The Catastrophe", "Blood" and mostly anything written by Michael Moorcock". - he has been my major influence.
"Anne Rice", some of her earlier writings do hit the spot.
"Gore Vidal", he was up on the charts of awhile, as was "Nabokov."
I think the only two books that I have read twice have been by "Salvador Dali" - one was titled, "The Diary Of A Genius", the other was titled, "Hidden Faces."
I used to get right into "2000 A.D" comics, I see them as an influence as well.
"Clive Barker", also has influenced my writing to a great extent.
In High School I read 13 or so "Virginia Andrews" novels, I don't think I've ever told anyone this.
Maybe… lots of oLe' Horror made up for this…?
I have always loved writing, the first four pieces I have ever had printed were in a street zine in 1996 titled "Scavenger."
Babylon Café in the Brisbane city offered the opening night.
I was then published by "Modern Movement" Street and Popular Culture Zine, in print with 3 or so short stories, which was always and still is a wicked lift!!!
"Modern Movement" changed to modmove.com and I had writing and photography published in it to this day.
Throughout this time I had 'writing' or 'pieces' published in many a "Tsunami" Street Press, in print and online, in a section Titled: "TheInk."
Then, photographic works in a project titled: "Brisneyland," with an opening at "The Milk Bar."
While all these cool peeps offered there 'space' and 'support' I had some pieces of writing and photography published in "Vibewire.com".
Amongst this happenings I joined in a Street Zine Titled: "Blind Line" which had a Fetish call to writers and photographers from around 1996 to 2005, poetry and photos published.
Then, the latest was the last few years I was involved in a Sydney Website, titled: "c-side", conducted by James Stuart.
Most recently I have been involved in a Government Project Titled: "Capturing Deams", where I was able to exhibit framed photography at The Bruce Watling Galleries at Newfarm and Southport.

POET OF THE MONTH - AUGUST 2007 - WON BY RZS
AKA: Rosetta Z. Stone
DOB: August 4
Location: Missoula, MT
http://www.gotpoetry.com/Your_Account/profile=2651.html
I was born in a small mining town and have been intrigued with minerals ever since.
Mountains are home to me and I find myself returning to Montana, no matter where my travels may take me. I climb for a view, listen to rivers for wisdom and prefer woods to town mostly, though I can dress up and make a respectable accounting of myself in the city when I have to.
Those rumors about the witness protection program are not true, though I did have a Sicilian godfather.
My poetry is influenced by the natural environment where I live, as well as a convoluted personal history, some of which actually happened. As for what it is that makes me write poetry... there is no good answer, other than it just happens sometimes. It started when I was a small child and figured out I could make up clever rhymes about any subject that was given to me on a moment's notice. When I did that, they gave me chocolate. Little did I realize it was a subtle brainwashing technique that made my love for assembling words a lifelong addiction.
My favorite poet... there are so many, known and unknown, classic and contemporary. I was raised on Shakespeare and Poe. The list of my poetic loves is long. Richard Hugo was a great teacher and I blame him for making it hard to quit. Rutger Lapin was a particularly memorable bohemian influence. Since I love so many books, I'll tell you my favorite book for poets to read in relation to their craft: 'The Triggering Town' by Richard Hugo.

POET OF THE MONTH - JULY 2007 - WON BY PERSECUTED ONE
NAME : ANTHONY CHARLES FRENCH
DOB : 6th FEBRUARY
LOCATION : S.KOREA
http://www.gotpoetry.com/Your_Account/profile=2622.html
Born and bred somewhere in Essex, England- real life began for me in
1980 after joining the Royal Navy. I spent the best part of 6 years
enjoying travel to many exotic and not so exotic locations; from Antigua
and St Lucia in the West Indies to the chill of winter in the Falkland
Islands.''
My career afterwards eventually settled into I.T- and studies continued into the world of business and finance.
''Looking back, probably the most important moment in my life beyond being born, and scraping 'Poet of the Month' on GP, was meeting a girl named Jun Young Joo; whilst taking a six-month break in Australia back in 1997. Unbeknown to us as I showed her how to prepare a full English breakfast in the kitchen of The British Arms in Surfer's Paradise- fate had formed a plan. We became married around 4 years later.
Life went from being a series of things I hadn't ever seemed to do right- to a place so different, I could never explain in words.
In 2003 we left old Blighty for the sunny shores of South Korea-and have not looked back since or returned except just recently to catch up with friends.
Work here has been largely teaching English- also I design board and card games when I can force myself away from the poetry!
Living two minutes from one of Busan's beautiful beaches-has allowed my'' creative juices to bubble once more; after almost 10 years of stagnation in the UK. The scenery and colorful culture of Korea have played their part too. I also like to paint and write songs for my guitar- which never seems to get churn them out like it's meant to!
Regards my family- spread like dobs of marmalade all over the world! Mum in Spain, John my brother in the USA, and Jane my sister in Australia, with our beautiful nieces and nephews. My Wife's family are of course much closer to home living near Seoul. ''
''Books-
Fiction mainly- Brown, Grisham, Koontz, Demille, et al.
Influence to write poetry-
Mainly the sad passing of my Dad, Joe French (god bless you forever Dad)
also the amazing complexities and simplicities in life that surround me.''
Favorite poet-
I actually can't give this a fair answer because to my shame I read very little poetry!'
Some of the work I have seen by E.E Cummings- rocked me a little while because of his ability to create such a beautiful flow to his work. Other than that I'm decidedly under nourished I think! '' '
I have recently published a book of haiku poetry www.lulu.com/content/992080
and also launched a poetry website http://www.poetrydances.com which showcases some great poetry from across the Internet.
