Asylum update (04/29/2005)
The Poet's Asylum Busy weekend for poetry in Worcester and vicinity. Head over to poetsasylum.org and check out The Week in Poetry for all the happens. Here are some highlights.

*** Linda Warren feature tonight

Worcester Storytellers meets tonight at the Village Arts Gallery (1 Ekman Street, Worcester). This month Linda Warren is the feature. Get ready to be impressed.

The reading starts at 8:00 p.m. There is an open mic to kick things off; readers have 8 minute time to share stories, poetry, etc. No cover; please bring a donation for the feature.

*** Shakti Women's Writing Pact

The Shakti Women's Writing Pact meets every Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Java Hut (1073A Main Street, Worcester). Shakti was created with the intention of enhancing women's sense of belonging within the poetry community through the an unmoderated writing circle.

For more information please contact Sou MacMillan at twobunny @ earthlink.net.

*** Coming up on Sunday, May 1st

This week the Poets' Asylum welcomes Casey Rocheteau and Brian Ellis of Hampshire College to our stage as your feature.

Casey Rocheteau coached the 2005 Five College slam team that won "Most Original Team" at The College Union Poetry Slam. She hosts open mics and slams for the Hampshire College Slam Collective. Her poetry plays Russian Roulette with your heart, and you're bound to take one in the chest. Brian Ellis is the surrealist king of Western Mass. He makes Adam Rubinstein look like a Bulldog in a leotard... that's right, just downright silly. He will keep you wildly amused and then wrench your heart out with pliers. Really really huge pliers.

Join us at the Java Hut (1073A Main Street, Worcester). Open mic sign-up at 6:30 p.m. with the reading starting somewhere around 7:00 p.m. The feature follows the open mic. Please throw some money in the bucket when it comes your way; everything collected goes to the feature.

*** April 24th Revisited

It was a word filled night at the Poets' Asylum with a full open mic and an amazing feature. Good poetry was on tap throughout the night. Tod Caviness, all the way from Orlando, FL, gave a polished performance. He shared toy box memories, words from his mother, and a brilliant evil genius persona piece. His honest style and open humor drew an already enthusiastic crowd to a frenzy. Thanks for the words Tod, toodle pip old chap.

*** Gallery Update

We've added another couple of featured poets to our Photo Albums. Check out the new pictures of Mike McGee (03/20) and Ria Thompson plus KJ (03/27) in the 2005 Features January - June album.

These pictures, and oh so many more, are just a click away. Simply head over to www.poetsasylum.org/ and click on the Photos button.
