The importance of literature (mainly poetry) in society.
News in Poetry Poetry is the simplest, most effective way to influence a person and his/her way of thinking. It is also the most reasonable. To get the point across, a movie producer would need a lengthy script, good-looking actors, and multi-million-dollar technology. All a poet would need is a pen and paper.

So many themes can be touched upon in only a few lines of a poem. Those lines
are open to much interpretation, making them influential on several different levels. A poem to one reader could be about emotional abuse, and he/she may feel attached to the written words because he/she is going through a similar scenario. That same poem could be interpreted by other people as being about a new beginning, and could motivate them to start living their life for themselves instead of for others. A poem is a documentation of what many people are feeling, but they are unable to express. Television, movies and most songs today concentrate too much on being relevant to their audience, instead of leaving their creations open to interpretation; this often makes them come off as unrealistic, or what some might call "fluffy." ...

... A poem's message isn't vocal -- it is strictly a feeling. It's a feeling the writer has, and the words create a specific feeling for each person that reads it. Poetry is a refreshing piece of reality that, if forgotten, would deprive humanity of an emotional connection.
