NYC - Urbana Poetry Slam!

1. WILLIAM EVANS! OPEN SLAM 3.2!

WOWZA!

What a great first open slam of 2010! Lots of new faces and full lists for both open-mic and slam! Congrats to Jared Singer who took the first open slam victory of the third quarter! Sierra DeMulder wowed us at her first ever Urbana appearance! I guarantee it won't be her last! Be sure to check out her new book at WriteBloody.com as they arrived the day AFTER her feature! We have an exciting feature from the Buckeye State this week. . .

Since hitting his first open mic in August 2005, William H Evans III has risen as a successful poet in slam local to Columbus, OH and abroad. He has been on both of the Columbus Black Pearl Poetry National Teams ( '06 & '07 ) in addition to being the 2006 Black Pearl Indy Grand Slam Champion,earning him a trip to the Individual World Poetry Slam in Vancouver, BC, where he finished 22nd out of 72 competing poets.

Most recently, William led the Black Pearl team to a 3rd place finish at the 2007 Rustbelt Regional Poetry Slam while finishing 4th overall as an individual. He has currently completed his sophmore poetry CD, 65533; Measure 65533; which is a follow-up to his debut release, "Living in the Hour Glass" from June '06. Will is one half of the two-man show with 2007 Individual World Poetry Slam Champion Ed Mabrey entitled: ed. will. speak that will begin touring in the spring of '07.

In addition to being the 2007 Columbus Black Pearl Grand Slam Champ, Will has been on 3 Columbus National Teams. He finished 22nd out of 72 poets at the 2007 Individual World Poetry Slam in Vancouver, BC and has toured throughout the United States and Canada as well as leading two teams regional final competition. Will currently is the slammaster for Writing Wrongs Poetry Slam in Columbus, OH.

William will also be chatting with us about poetic craft at WORDSHOP!
The WordShop is a series of talks on the craft of poetry and is made possible with public funds from The New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency. And of course generous supporters like you!

Doors open at 6:30pm, and the open mic will start promptly at 7pm!! So COME ON OUT and hear some amazing poetry!

Mar-16 - ANIS MOJGANI -- before Anis was a TWO-TIME Individual World Champ, he was just a member of our Urbana's 2004 team! Welcome him home!
