Pre-Release Book Review - Mad House Strays
Reviews "There is a great deal of difference between a man who writes for fame and fortune, and the common man who writes for love of the thing and as a survival tool. Placate those great beasts in your head by purging them to paper, and your work will have meaning long after the others have spent their last filthy dollar." This are the immortal words of a little known, but quickly moving writing named Jarvis Black. His new collection of poetry is due out soon, and I've been lucky enough to thumb over the manuscript.

Mad House Strays, his third collection of poetry, should be out on shelves by years end. Far from simply being able to list who it Jarvis writes like, it would be easier to list who he doesn't write like. He doesn't write like anyone. Oh, you'll find yourself reminded that others have said the same thing in some situations, but without the angry flair, or the volatile charm that Mr. Black seems to have. His work is gritty, hard and chipped like concrete, brash and callous, and yet, there's a sense of humor and a beauty in his ability with words amongst all the suffering. His work is that of a tortured soul living invisible against a world he loves but hates all the same. It's a song and dance about love, love lost, love come back again, wishing love would leave. It's a song that sings what every heart sings: a wish for freedom. A wish to be let out of the madhouse.

Other books by Jarvis Black: 5,000 Miles From Anywhere Recognizable and Broken By A Promise, Poisoned By A Kiss. Available anyhwere books are sold.
