Courtnie Mckern 1976 (Council Bluffs, Iowa)

I walk this path most everyday,
To clear my head from disarray.

There’s internal chaos in my mind,
And I try to leave it all behind.

The sound of nature in my ear,
Is all I really want to hear.

Life is stressful all the time,
Can’t catch a break, watching every dime.

Gotta work overtime just to stay alive,
With rising costs it’s hard to survive.

Stress is like a parasite that’s taken hold,
Controlling my body, mind and soul.

I need a new car and a new job as well,
If the devil came calling I just might sell.

It’s hard to be happy when life’s such a mess,
So many emotions I need to address.

They say it gets easier and there’s a light up ahead,
I try to stay positive to overshadow the dread.

So I walk this path most everyday,
And pray that luck will come my way!
