Neil Hilborn, a 25-year-old Internet sensation and slam poet, graced ASU’s West Campus on Friday night. Opened by the well-rehearsed Joshua Wiss, this event attracted not only students, but professors, professional slam poets and many from the community to celebrate and appreciate the beauty of spoken word art. One performer, Asia Glenn, who performed songs accompanied by a ukelele was grateful for this wide appreciation for the arts.

Included in a packed evening of poetry, music and storytelling is the launch of a new book – Donegal Sunset by Annie O Donnell. There’s poetry courtesy of North West Words Eamonn Bonner, Maureen Curran, Annmarie Gallagher and Nick Griffiths, as well as readings from primary school poets and younger writers.

Egypt uses a unique form of acting called confessional narration to educate on social issues such as HIV, Black history, and relationships. Egypt has graced the stage on national platforms such as MTV, BET, Apollo theatre and FOX with Lee Pitts educating audiences.

To commemorate the life and work of Dylan Thomas, an exhibition of paintings, etchings, prints and other mediums has been gathered together for the centennial celebration of the prestigious poet's birth in Swansea on October 27, 1914. The Dylan Thomas Centre, Swansea, has this year celebrated with a permanent exhibition about Thomas’ life with the annual Dylan Thomas Festival taking place during October and November.

On September 14, 2014, Constance Cooper will appear as a soloist in the 9/11 Cultural Festival in a solo set of poems about violence and loss by the Polish Nobel-prizewinning poet Wyslawa Szymborska. Miss Cooper will play her signature setup, a piano and an electric keyboard tuned a quartertone apart, used for its remarkable ability to capture the elusive quasi-pitches of the speaking voice.
