A day-long festival to mark the distribution of the Jibanananda-Prize in memory of Jibanananda Das, the “Poet of Ruposhi Bangla” was held on Friday in the ancestral city of the poet. The participants called for more study and research on the life and achievements of Das, while they also sought the preservation of places associated with the poet.Link!

Poetry News: The ninth annual Pee Dee Fiction & Poetry Festival at Francis Marion University will bring to campus four award-winning authors on Nov. 6 and 7. The two-day festival will celebrate the works of Megan Abbott, Ron Carlson, Denise Duhamel and Tim Seibles. The event is held in Cauthen Educational Media Center's Lowrimore Auditorium and all sessions are free and open to the public.

News in Poetry Poetry, prose, talks and fun at Ilkley Literature Festival

THE gripping first chapter of Ilkley's annual literature festival began on Friday night with a show by a former Poet Laureate. The festival, which runs over two weeks, will feature over 250 events across the town, but things got started last night with an "exploration of poetry and prose" with Sir Andrew Motion.

Current Poetic Events UK: Town hosts month-long poetry event

Poetry News: Poets from China, Poland, the Czech Republic and Serbia are taking part in the event. Venues for readings and multi-media performances range from Bangor University to the town's pier and an empty store in a shopping centre. Director Dr Zoë Skoulding said she audiences would "hear the distinctive sounds of different languages".
