Seventy-five years ago on Sunday, writer William Carlos Williams helped inaugurate what would become this country's most famous literary reading series at New York's 92nd Street Y Poetry Center. The center is celebrating this diamond jubilee with a project called " 75 at 75 ," which pairs rare recordings of readings from its archives with contemporary essays by some of today's most acclaimed writers.Link!

On Friday, Oct. 17, at 5 p.m., the downtown Maine Farmland Trust Gallery will present Barn Raising, a poetry reading by Swanville poets Joshua Kauppila and Toussaint St. Negritude. In celebration of the Belfast Poetry Festival, which opens that evening, this Poetry on Main event aims to invoke the potent and lyrical declarations of two farm-held poets from a world of voices, as viewed from the woods of coastal Maine.

Current Poetic Events PA: Carnegie Library opens poetry series

Poetry News: Two of Pittsburgh's acclaimed literary artists, Toi Derricotte and Vanessa German, will launch a new series of poetry readings at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh on Saturday. They will read from their works in the Andrew W. Mellon International Poetry Room at the library's main branch in Oakland between 3 and 4 p.m. The readings, which are free of charge, will be the first of four such events through the spring 2015, said Don Wentworth, librarian in charge of the poetry room, which is on the library's second floor.
