Wester MA Regional Library System
Posted by John on Thursday, January 03, 2008 (21:41:50)
Now that the holidays are past us I am getting to work on the regional poetry slams. We have the round table coming up Friday (tomorrow!) and another at Pelham next week.
I threw up this quick Google Pages website to give people an idea of what the slam is and as a central place to draw resources from. Within a week or so all the resources should be there. These should not be a lot of work for people and I think they'll be fun and attract a lot of attention!

Poetry Makes the Bigtime on Voice of America
Posted by chameleon on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 (13:28:21)
Voice of America has been featuring "interesting and innovative online destinations" on their international web site since 2004. Past features have included sites like craigslist, How Stuff Works and WikiHow. This week marks the second time in all those weeks that a poetry site has been the featured site. The site is Poetry Foundation (17 November 2007). The first site was Poets.org (1 April 2006).

Time again for our Website of the Week, when we showcase interesting and innovative online destinations. Our web guide is VOA's Art Chimes.
Poetry probably doesn't have the prominence in American culture that it once had, or maybe that it still has in your country. But at our Website of the Week, they're not only keeping poetry alive, they're working to make it a vibrant part of 21st century life. |

Page (not Stage) Slams on GotPoetry.com
Posted by John on Monday, November 12, 2007 (07:10:00)
Page Slam is GotPoetry.com's online version of a Poetry Slam. Instead of poets preforming the poems for an audience, the audience reads the poems on the page, or in this case the computer screen.
On the top of the hour, once a slam is full, it will start. You then read and rate the poems and eventually after voting over multiple rounds a winner will prevail.
Its fun and the comment section of each slam is often full of lots of witty banter.
