No Reading Due to Venue Issues
Due to ongoing issues with the entertainment license at The Q Cafe we have
decided to cancel the reading for the next two weeks. We will work to
reschule the iWPS Qualifier and feature by Ryk McIntyre for dates later in
the year. As you probably have heard it was discovered two weeks ago that
The Q Cafe does not have an entertainment license. They applied for a
license this week, were told to meet with a neighborhood rep to work out
concerns and then come back. Without an entertainment license The Q Cafe
could be shutdown if we continue to hold the reading. All the organizers
loathe canceling another reading however it seems like the best thing to do
at this point in time.

MA - Poets Asylum Update
Posted by chameleon on Friday, February 01, 2008 (18:21:35)
Greetings from the Poets' Asylum.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Coming up on Sunday, February 3rd
Join the Poets' Asylum this week for *The Klute*, an amazing poet from Mesa,
Arizona. A rare breed of Southern Arizona slam poet, originally raised in
Southern Florida ( however, he's not a native Floridian - rumors trace his
origin back to Illinois ). He abhors use of rhyme schemes in poetry, writing
almost exclusively in free verse. Frequent targets: the goth subculture,
neoconservatism ( especially Dick Cheney ), and crass-commericalism. He was a
member of the 2002, 2003, 2005, and 2006 Mesa National Slam teams ( Mesa's
2005 slam champion ) and is the former slammaster of the Mesa Poetry Slam. He
has released two chapbooks of his work: 2002's "Escape Velocity" and 2005's
"Look at What America Has Done to Me".

MA - Java Hut Closing
Posted by John on Tuesday, December 18, 2007 (20:26:12)
You may have heard rumor that the Java Hut is closing. Regrettably the rumor is true. The Java Hut will close following the Winter Semi-final Slam this Sunday, December 23rd. The Java Hut has been an excellent venue for the Poets' Asylum and we will miss their support.
"This just in... starting Sunday, December 30th the Poets' Asylum will meet at The Q, a cafe located at 362 Chandler Street in Worcester.
The owners are excited to have us on their schedule and are working with us to make the transition as smooth as possible. We'll have additional info as we work out the details.
Please help spread the word. And join us this Sunday, December 23rd, at the Java Hut for the Winter Semi-finals and a send-off to the venue that has hosted the Asylum for 10+ years. It will be a night to remember!"
