Why you ask? Because our venue, XandO Cafe, now closes at 10pm! Why is this a good thing? Well, we get our poetry on earlier in the evening and get you home in time for Sex and the City reruns! Or . . . it's good news for those who always wanted to stay for the slam but couldn't because of early day jobs etc etc. I think it's a good thing because I get to see you all earlier. DC Baltimore Slams DC - Axiom Features at SLAMicide!
Posted by John on Monday, September 17, 2007 (14:29:17)

In the spring of 2004, Black Root and Wordslave embarked on their musical journey as a group. The duo, which calls itself AXIOM, takes a well balanced approach to its performance style. Black Root, an actor, poet, and lyricist is an avid student of the Hip-Hop culture who always steps on stage with the energy necessary to move the crowd, and a swagger to know that he can do so.

DC Baltimore Slams MD - Memorial Reading for DC Poet & US Soldier
Posted by John on Tuesday, September 04, 2007 (11:29:31)

Hi everyone.

As a lot of you have heard by now, Scott Kirkpatrick passed way on August 11
while serving our country in Iraq. He was laid to rest two weeks ago. For
those of you that don't know, Scott Kirkpatrick was on the 2000 DC Slam Team
and was a regular at the DC Slam Poetry Series ( then known as the MYTH
Poetry Series ). His work touched many people and he was a good friend to us
all.

The SLAMicide hosting group and I were talking about holding a memorial
reading in Scott's honor. We agreed that the reading should be a memorial
reading, not just for Scott, but for anyone who wants to remember any of
their friends or family who perished as well. Please understand that this is
not an anti-war/anti-Bush reading; this is meant to be a supportive
atmosphere for those who need it.

DC Baltimore Slams DC - Slamicide Update
Posted by John on Friday, August 24, 2007 (13:12:55)

The Slamicide Update Returns!

After coming back from the National Poetry Slam, our slam this evening was
intimate but wonderful. Team DC/Baltimore is the 48th ranked team and Twain
Dooley is ranked 12th individually! Awesome!

But tonight, on the open mic, we had Heather open us up with a few lovely
songs. Black Root teamed with beatboxer Shodekeh, John read more Kipling and
did an original piece, Grey was wonderful and had great crowd energy with
her poems, and Zeb read something deep, so deep.
