Current Poetic Events UK: Town hosts month-long poetry event

Poetry News: Poets from China, Poland, the Czech Republic and Serbia are taking part in the event. Venues for readings and multi-media performances range from Bangor University to the town's pier and an empty store in a shopping centre. Director Dr Zoë Skoulding said she audiences would "hear the distinctive sounds of different languages".

Poetry News: MONTGOMERY, Alabama -- Troy University campuses in Troy and Montgomery will host readings by poet Claire Bateman on Oct. 1 and Oct. 2. The readings, which will serve as part of the English Department's Writers Reading Series, will be selections from Bateman's nine poetry collections. Bateman has been awarded Individual Artist Fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Tennessee Arts Commission and the Surdna Foundation, as well as two Pushcart Prizes.

Poetry News: KBLX and Budweiser will present the largest and most anticipated poetry show in the Bay Area, starring Khoree the Poet and featuring Rick Alexander and Dre Rivers of Verbal Sax on Nov. 8 at The Historic Bal Theater in San Leandro, which seats 750 people. Corey Page, more commonly known as Khoree the Poet, has been performing spoken word poetry since 2010.

An anthem for souls in conflict will be playing from Thurs. September 18th, 2014. Peter Frost recommends Regeneration, a dark vision of the psychological horrors endured by soldiers in WWI. "Regeneration", will be showcased at Royal and Derngate Theatre, Northampton. Novelist Pat Barker won a Booker prize for The Ghost Road, the third book in her Regeneration trilogy set in the first world war. For it's inaugural year, the Amherst Poetry Festival stretched over eight days, this year, the second, is jam-packed into three with dozens of readings, panels and talks, not to mention the annual Emily Dickinson Poetry Marathon. Michael Medeiros, who does publicity for the Emily Dickinson Museum , said the festival "celebrates the cultural legacy of Dickinson through the marathon but equally celebrates the Western Massachusetts poetry population.

Caven, artist and frontman of seven-piece classic hip-hop orchestra Plaid Blazer, leads the weekly Lyrics Lab at Bailey Contemporary Arts (BaCA) on Wednesday nights. The poetry, rhyme, music and spoken-word jam started a few months back, when BaCA, a studio and exhibition space, opened its doors in April.
