Texas Crossroads Cowboy Gathering & Talent Show

The Texas Crossroads Cowboy Gathering is returning to Van Horn, Texas the first weekend of February. The 2010 show will be bigger and better than last year. These cowboy poets, musicians, and story tellers are coming to town on their own money to advance their entertainer careers.

Poetic Escape has been the ONLY poetry open mic in BOSTON for the last 3 years. Not to be compared to the Cantab Lounge in Cambridge, though world famous, and great, you get a different vibe at the Blue Wave. At Poetic Escape you truly will exprience some of the best in local spoken word artists and both traditional and freeform poets. You'll get diversity and more flavorful poets relfecting today's Boston. Slams will begin in November 2009 to move from the solely open mic format.

PE has been lucky enough to feature Def Poets in the past such as Black Ice and Orpheus. Blue Wave has also had visits from Talib Kweli.

Landscape oil paintings by Gary Steinley and the poetry of David Allan Evans, South Dakota's Poet Laureate, are on display together at the Center for Western Studies at Augustana College in an exhibit called "Images of Place: Paintings and Poems." People can meet Steinley and Evans during a talk at 6 p.m. as part of the reception from 5 to 7 p.m.
