Current Poetic Events Byron event will be poetry to town's ears

Experts will converge on Seaham this weekend to discuss the town’s links with a literary legend.

Members of the Newstead Abbey Byron Society and the Irish Byron Society will visit the town for lectures about the poet Lord Byron.

The line-up for Saturday’s event includes Durham University professor Michael O’Neill, chairman of the Association of International Byron Societies’ advisory board, and former Byron Journal editor Bernard Beatty, an academic at Liverpool University and also a research fellow at St Andrews in Scotland.

Current Poetic Events Alaska comes to New Jersey with fiddling poet Ken Waldman

Poetry News: Centenary Stage Company presents Ken Waldman, Alaska's Fiddling Poet: Portrait of an Artist as Santa Claus as part of the Kutz Theatre Series. Waldman brings a show that is one part Appalachian - string band concert, one - part riveting storytelling, one - part poetry reading, and one - part early Christmas gift exchange to the Edith Kutz Theater from Nov. 13 through the 16. The Edith Kutz Theater is located in the David and Carol Lackland Center on the campus of Centenary College in Hackettstown.

Current Poetic Events UK: Town hosts month-long poetry event

Poetry News: Poets from China, Poland, the Czech Republic and Serbia are taking part in the event. Venues for readings and multi-media performances range from Bangor University to the town's pier and an empty store in a shopping centre. Director Dr Zoë Skoulding said she audiences would "hear the distinctive sounds of different languages".

Poetry News: MONTGOMERY, Alabama -- Troy University campuses in Troy and Montgomery will host readings by poet Claire Bateman on Oct. 1 and Oct. 2. The readings, which will serve as part of the English Department's Writers Reading Series, will be selections from Bateman's nine poetry collections. Bateman has been awarded Individual Artist Fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Tennessee Arts Commission and the Surdna Foundation, as well as two Pushcart Prizes.

Poetry News: KBLX and Budweiser will present the largest and most anticipated poetry show in the Bay Area, starring Khoree the Poet and featuring Rick Alexander and Dre Rivers of Verbal Sax on Nov. 8 at The Historic Bal Theater in San Leandro, which seats 750 people. Corey Page, more commonly known as Khoree the Poet, has been performing spoken word poetry since 2010.

"Regeneration", will be showcased at Royal and Derngate Theatre, Northampton.
