Blossoms Come The Spring

The north star shines aloft on depths of black
shadows line a beach of gaily painted rock
crowned above by stunted cedar brush
carried off by driving ocean storms
set once again to rush aground

released to lives on different shores
battered hopes renew in emerald forests
far from ice and unrelenting winter dreams
of snow swept mansions built from memories
draped in scarlet blossoms come the spring
sunshine brings incandescent daydreams
carried off by careless summer rains

awaiting sugar days of warmth
from window panes of leaded glass
lilting waters dance on lazy afternoons
peaceful islands ringed in rising rainbows
blessed with midnight’s gift, Aurora Borealis.
