Victorian Lust

Another time, another place,
I entered from above
And slithered down the winding case
Assisted by the doves

They held my hem a bit on high
Lest I should trip upon it
My arms were free, I caught your eye
Come trip the light fantastic

You met my gaze and sallied forth
T’was then my heart took flight
You took my hand for what it’s worth
And danced me through the night

Musicians piped and fiddled fro
By-standers froze in place
Decision mocked the status quo
As we openly embraced

My curls unfurled from ‘top my crown
My bosom burst its laces
We fled the disapproving frowns
Just as you lost your braces

So there we were now out of sight
Our frocks in disarray
We stole away into the night
And frolicked ‘til next day

What price to pay for blatant lust
We really did not mind
And so I blushed from head to bust
While other ladies pined
