Hidden Heart

Do you know me?
Really,
really
know me?
You say you do,
you believe you do,
yet, your downcast
eyes speak a
different language
than your lips.
You need to look
at me, my so called
love .
For once, when you
say you love me
look me in the eye.
My eyes are where
my heart hides.

Look deeply now,
closer,
closer,
ever closer,
closer still.
Do you see it…
…my heart?
Does it beat
with evil intent?
Does it pulse
grace unfurled?
Consumed is it
with lust?
Or is it tempered
by love’s wondrous desires?
Wretched am I
behind sonorous eyes?
Am I a delicate soul
hidden in spitfire?

My heart is hidden
evading revelation
to you so long
as you fail to look.
I have not
such luxury,
for I cannot escape
the complicated man I am,
the one you refuse to see.
Nay, my heart beats
tirelessly,
in pain
love
sorrow
happiness
in torment.
Look me in
the eye and
if you love
me still,
then and only
then, will I believe
our love is real.
