A Better Place

You have gone away
Gone away to a better place.
A better place where you will wait
Wait for those you loved and who loved you
Loved you for your strength, your spirit
Loved you for your wit, your wisdom
Loved you for your gentle generosity
Loved you because you were there to help
Help anyone who ever needed you
Needed you for any reason
I needed you because you're my dad
My dad and one of my best friends

You have gone away
Gone away to a better place
A better place and yet you're still here
Still here where your strong arms still hold me
Still here in all the things you showed me
Still here in all the truths you told me
Still here in the trees and flowers you planted
Planted so this world was a better place
A better place because you were here.
