reminiscences

Her mother laughed

as she reminisced

about sneaking almonds and whiskey

after dinner parties

as a little girl

And how the house boy

would chastise her gently

with a wink and a grin

'I certainly would have loved to have had a boy'

She laughed

Listening silently

he wondered

If she really ever thought about it

she might realise

She did

Then he continued quietly

to pack his suitcases.
