Jack Flash

You were lightning.
A smiling speed demon.
Quick with a joke,
The life of the party,
A person who people felt close to.
And now in the aftermath
all we are left with
is your shadow.
The thoughts and feelings
of all those people
who knew and loved you,
Would that this might have been enough
to plug the rip in your soul
where life had slashed you.
Always easier to ask after
Always hard to see past the drink and laughter
I wonder if there was anything else
I could have done for you?
All I can do now is believe
The sadness and despair
must have been
too much,
Weighed down
Your head hung
And I lost another friend
incomprehensible
I won’t forget something so senseless
And hope that in times of darkness
I won’t be too eager to join you
Rest in peace my friend.
Alone with shared memories,
I can't do anything else
But miss you.
