Last night

my skin longs to be alive
with the imprint of your touch

my heart beats so hard
bruising the breast
that sheltered it for so long

my eyes try to focus on your face
blind, i cannot see

in the darkness
i sleep pillowed on your arm
waking up this morning to realize

you were only a dream
