Empathy

I still hear when you are crying

Muffled sobs drifting

Over flattened hopes and memories

Nothing could stop

A silent empathy

It was always so

Between you and me

And though I am walking

Along distant streets and alleys

No need for contact

I can still sense what you are feeling

Never the one to accept

You were not the reason for others frailties

I hope you remember

To think about the better things

Rather than any particular origins and endings

Enjoy what you can of the witches and pixies

As you try to find your way

Step by step

Along the paths of Eltham
