A Moment That Never Was

I close my eyes,
missing you this day.
I imagine us two,
hand and hand,
heart to heart
walking along a moonlit path
strewn with sparkling leaves.
Tree branches overhead
intermingle their fingers,
our arbor of romantic bliss.
It leads us to a gentle hilltop,
drenched in marvelous moonlight.
As if one we stand,
cheek to cheek,
chest to chest,
the sensation of our hearts beating
in gentle rhythm.
Your hair kisses my face,
its smell intoxicating,
your warmth inviting.
Together we gaze
upon the glorious moon,
tracing the lunar surface
with our shared imaginations.
A sprinkle of stars a mere adornment
to the moon’s vibrant beauty.
We share the rapturous moment
and a glass of God’s grape,
savoring the moment ever more.
A moment that never was,
but should be.
I open my eyes,
returning to the moment
and whisper to myself…

‘I am missing you so.’
