My Failing Liver

My hands are calloused, my feet are swollen,
my head is aching, my back feels broken,
my teeth are crooked, my hair is a mess...
and I smell just like death!

My thoughts are scattered, my feelings are hurt,
my dreams are disheveled, my desire's are dirty!
I'm a walking, talking, living car wreck...
and I smell just like death!

My love has flown, my money's spent,
my paycheck is gone - with it, my rent!
My only friends are hooked on crystal meth!!!
...and I smell just like death!

The oversized aria is pounding my ears,
the melody lost in my ocean of tears.
As my ship slowly sinks with my golden chest
...where Davey and I smell just like death!

It's like flying a kite, with a child, but no wind!
Beautiful beginnings ; agonizing ends...
Where the sun doesn't shine, or set in the West...
...and you feel just like death!

My halo's long faded, my wings long gone'
my angels sing nothing but Tom Waits' songs!
Except when they're whispering under neath their breath...
about how I smell just like death!

I guess it's time to go, they made last call.
Goodnight to tonight's friends, Goodnight to you all!
I'll stagger and swerve back home to my bed...
to lay there and smoulder, smelling like death!

an excellent poem, seven quatrans of funny rhyme.......only it smelled a little like death......the rest was certainly 10 worthy.......................welcome to GP
