The Day I Decided It Was Enough for Us (Hip-Hop Summer Nights) by Ramonez
Birds,
no frills,
no pills;
Marijayn with peace and love,
a dove,
hands in white rubber gloves -
lie still, don’t scream.
Dreams,
squeals,
cold meals,
nightmares in maroon filth;
a birth,
streams of airless breaths -
a tugging at your heart.
Start the bad movie,
gory,
stories
of love long lost;
a tear,
mascara smeared cheeks -
and still your eyes are open.
Broken bones,
concrete white,
darkness
entangles us in tree-root-green;
a whimper
of what we used to be -
the bass drum beats on. |
