Black Wings

Quickly they advance
Those things with wings of black
Circling us with piercing eyes
Readying for an attack

They fly so high above us
Descending upon our souls
One swoops down from the sky
Their eyes look like dark coals

Are they here to watch us die?
Or steal our hearts away?
Their black wings overshadow the sun
Leaving us in dismay

They’re fast descending
Those things with black wings
Taunting us with nightmares
We’re just their playthings

I hear their wicked screeching
Their starving cries of emptiness
Black wings wrap around our bodies
As they drag us into the abyss
