Anticipation

I don’t even know you
That is what I tell myself
So why do I recognize what you do
It’s like I all of sudden met myself

Came face to face with a version of me
That should tell me all I need to know
And give me every reason I should go
And yet I am compelled to stay
Do tomorrow what I should do today
Walk away and keep things cool

We both know I’m to curious though
To just leave and never know
This is how I get in trouble you see
Wanting to experience everything

I can’t help it I want to know
Everything that makes things so
Like the songs of being wild and free
I want to find out about you and me
Even though our end is inevitable

I think for now I’ll stay and find out
Everything about you I don’t know about
And when one of us decides to leave
Then again we can both breathe

But for now I am holding my breath
Wanting to see where you touch
Want to find that threshold oh so much
I know there is a way to say
Yes
