Only In the Eye of the Beholder

once i called myself
beautiful
until i realized that beauty
did not know my name
and i hardly recognized hers

stepped into my room
unclothed
nudist by nature
looking into a mirror

the only truth known to man
for unless distorted
never has it lied

stroking cheekbones, caressing
the neck
eyes staring truth
in pure form

No....
there is no such thing as
beauty

only flaws that we have
come to love
and others learn to
accept
