Humility's Heart

Humility’s halo can sail on the wind
it may lie on a shelf or fall to the sand
search not in vain for your paradise lost
for life is a river we all swim across
beginning in tears and ending in gasps
with struggles to grow and prosper at last
only to lose in that last dying breath
for life can be regal or lonely and brief
we strive to resist being prisoners of time
strength is the key to going upstream
to match expectations delivered at birth
hope becomes echoes of meaning obscure
chance overcomes life’s logical path
nothing is promised for us on this earth
those who expect their heart to come first
cast the world over searching for truth
for true love is promised to only the few
with humility offered from flowering bloom
trust will deliver a humble heart home.
