My Resurrection

He sits like a stone
at the entrance to a tomb
where my body seems to be.

There is no mention of this fellow
anywhere
in the New Testament.

“Can you show me to the restroom?”
I ask in desperation,
hoping to escape.

No response.

A Sumo wrestler
with no sense of humor –
just my luck.

He looks like Fear
and this feels like a dream.

Dear God
please send
angels, enlightment
and a Dunkin’ Donuts medium with two sugars
and cream

and, if I don’t see You,
thanks in advance
for the coffee
and the grace
and the morning sun
so warm on my face.

Getting rid of fear is probably one of the hardest things to do. Go face your sumo wrestler Ken and escape. Lovely poem!
