are they lines from songs used in your poem?
i dig the poem, bye byes are always sad, how come everybody remembers Armstrong but not Edwin Buzz Aldrin? not fair, not by the long, any long fair. Life is lopsided, like the scoop of icecream on the cone, lopsided and ready to slide onto the ground or the super white shirt

The thought of America having to hop a ride on a Sov...err, Russian shuttle to get back and forth from space makes me ill. We once did the unimaginable in this nation, we once soared into the stars with pride. And now we can barely pass a budget in Congress without girlish squealing of indignation. It's enough to make on sick -- or write.
I hope you are well, Paul.

yes j.p. the west could have been so much more than it became in the post world war 2 world. maybe i was a naive kid, who read too many science fiction novels, but i still believe we could have been on mars by 1985. now... the europeon space programme is a joke, america has no access to the space station without soviet..eeerrr russian haha help, and the chinese are going to the moon....remind me...who won the cold war again? i see congress managed to pass a mess, that nobody is happy with except chinese bankers....sigh " round and round and round it goes. where it stops nobody knows " - bravo to the astronauts and ground crew. to quote carl sagan ( formely of N.A.S.A. ) " arguments from authority are worthless " - paul.

thanks tasha. although the shuttle was never actually a spaceship, just an orbiter, i always assumed that we would move on from there. i feel sorry for the astronaunts who did all the training, but never got to fly. one of those that i could have gone on and on with...but i thought i'd leave it at two lines - jupiter and beyond the infinite - paul.
