Our hearts kiss as I hold you in my arms.
Rest your head on my breast; your weary eyes
refuse to close, grasping every wonder,
saving it for your tranquil dreams. Wonder
how long you can battle sleep. Stroke your arms
with my lips, rock your body, watch your eyes
blink. Our breaths dance in unison, your eyes
droop as you hear my lullaby wonder-
ful child, protected always in my arms.
Eyes shut, arms limp, sleeping face – my wonder!

Is is a special feeling holding your child in your arms, but I bet it must be twice as special holding your grandchild. There is a saying in Greece "your child's child is is twice your child". I haven't had that pleasure yet. Thank you so much for stopping by. -- Paula.

Oh this poem is gorgeous!!! I an feel the heart of it beating so beautifully. It could be sung, I think, also, or recited to music and thus shared in another way. Do you ever do performance poetry? Just wondering. Warm Wishes and a hug, Tasha A Fave too!

Hi Tasha. No, I don't do performance poetry. I just like writing (and rewriting and rewriting... ). I couldn't imagine this poem as a song, being that it's a tritina but then, you know best. I am glad you liked it. Hugs, Paula.
