Desire Of My Heart

Truth in black and white
my dream painfully finite
slipping through my hands
slammed by the worlds demands

He doesn't see me, did he ever?
the sad answer, methinks, "no, never"
waist line fantasies, pin up magazines
only a collection of my naive dreams

Running after him only to find
to care for me, he is disinclined
do I place blame, no not I
I say I'm okay, but it's only a lie

So I ran in circles, plagued by doubt
until the day I turned myself inside out
the pain never ceasing, the days they bled,
into one another, the monsters in my head

Now there is nothing left but myself
I cannot compete with fame or wealth
only acting like I am truly free
but the truth is, he still has all of me

Penning thoughts to this rhyme
a dreamer lost in the throes of time
waiting here, faithful but alone
blinking back tears by the telephone

Waiting nightly for his voice
suffering this plight by choice
choosing to keep on believing
hope running wild and teeming

It's never mattered what I have to endure
because I have never in my life been more sure
of who I love, and what I dream could start
thus, I am still here, waiting, for the desire of my heart
