He took her hand and held it close
gazing upon the face he had watched age
he sees the sorrow of loss too come
there will be no new fight
for time stops soon
Through his faded eyes
she sees his jouney near its end
This goodbye will be just the two of them
she feels him relax and he smiles
"I be but on the other side of this door"
he whispers sweetly to her
With all his power he kisses her hand
there is no machine to tell of his going
just a sudden sun shower out on the garden
she sits on the bed edge and cries
Cries for his release of such a long illness
Cries for the relief of now knowing
and cries for a true love now gone forever
