Poems - The Eye of the Storm

The Eye of the Storm

She hides beneath the bed
pulls the blankets underneath
covers up her ears and head
hope he doesn't look and see
her cringing holding back her tears
trying not to breath or
let him feel her fears.
Maybe tonight he'll go away
not find her hiding place
not tell her it's time to play
the game he made up for her.
She holds her breath as she sees his feet
pass by the bed where she hides
she knows he must hear her heart beat
and tries so hard not to cry.
But hands reach under and pull her out
drag her back to the bed
she cries and screams out
but no one comes to rescue her.
The game done she lays in shame
wonders why mommy never comes
to stop this horrible game
maybe tonight she'll die and not have to play again.
