Tombstone Lips

by FuchsiaFestival!

Tombstone lips
bask in life's spinal
fluid, communicating
with stragglers from
eons ago.

They are
rose-filled promises
that gaze, like petals,
into a garden of souls;
each glance is a return
of Prometheus' stolen fire.

Even the dead are capable
of reading and returning
stories scraped into other
people's breaths.

    I wrote it on the way home from school. (or started it, I should say).

Sammi, I agree that this is indeed a stunning piece! As always you manage to put some amazing visuals in my head - and your last stanza, in particular, is frighteningly real. Wonderful work, as always.
