Poems - Money chain

Money chain

Mr. and Mrs. Gotbucks
lived on the highest hill
in the largest mansion
in the biggest city…
They have old money.

Just down a privet road
lives Mr. and Ms. Newmoney,
new estate, four cars,
and a maid…
He’s in politics.

In a swank condo
on the upper side of town
is Mr. and Mrs. Stock E. Broker.
Gotbucks and Newmoney
pay Stock E. Broker…
he’s their in-sider.

In a three bedroom one story
two-car garage, vinyl siding,
lives J.Q. Bluecollar
Works eight hours (when he can)
wife works part time. (when she can)
Food, rent, braces for two kids,
behind in the mortgage;
the ten-year-old car needs work,
and Gotbucks and Newmoney
want to raise his taxes.

Then way down hear is…
well by now you get the idea.

A great piece of writing, Very visual, a great study of the classes, upper and lower.The more money, the more to show of. The problem with a lot of areas, you get wealthy people and poor people close by, the gap can between them can be huge.The richer get richer, and the poor get poorer. Money seems to go to those who need it less. thanks for sharing. take care, well done Pete. lol. a 10 and a heart.

One can see them as stereotypical characters or one can see them as a reflection of the society in which they live. From the top of the heap to the bottom has become such a tremendous leap... This is truly a thinking-person's poem, my friend. Best wishes, Mary Ann
