the ramones 1...2...3...4

by omegapaf

" i dig rock n' roll radio....let's go " - do you remember rock n' roll radio? - the ramones.

they gimme shock treatment and beat on the brat with a baseball bat
expose every fake 70's rat
sheena was a punk rocker. a cretin hop and a blitzkrieg bopper
bop till you drop with psycho therapy
the ramones couldn't play, but boy were they free
on the way to rockaway beach, the kkk took my baby away
no matter what you say. rock n' roll is here to stay.

" this is rock n' roll radio....stay tuned for more rock n' roll ".

apologies to anyone who doesn't know who the ramones are. as this poem will make no sense. they were one of the first punk bands.

hahahahaha, my favourite line:
the ramones couldnt play, but they were free:-)

well i concur, they cant play but i love the sentiment:-)))))

i watched a documentary a couple of years ago about the formaiton of punk music, and due to that alone i was exposed to the ramones.....not a fan myself, but they do have gusto!

    gusto indeed millificent.
sometimes the best bands couldn't play, but had a lot to say. the sex pistols were awful musically, and the clash learned to play on stage. talking heads learned to play in an attic....quietly, so the neighbours didn't complain.
i would recomend " rockaway beach ", " i wanna be sedated ", and " the kkk took my baby away " just for the wild energy of the songs.
just sent you an e-mail kid....it's all in there. i didn't know you'd already been on g.p. - punky paulicus and the clash hound.

i'm sure people will enjoy the links gaily. punk rock changed everything for me. it meant i didn't have to listen to dreadful rubbish like rod stewart whining on endlessly and status quo anymore. 'cos all that got blown away. it only lasted a few years, but as they say " it's better to burn out, than to fade away ".
and ultimately produced the exploited, oasis, radiohead, squeeze, the libertines, the dead kennedys and nirvana - stay tuned for more rock n' roll - rocky pauly and the rolling hound.

i'm thinking of doing a series of rock n' roll band poems. i'm just finishing one now about the english rock band called oasis. i already did the clash and the beatles a couple of years ago. doing the rolling stones would just be too easy, and the sex pistols would involve too much swearing ha ha. - got your message. i'll reply after some more scribbling - joey ramone.

oh, it wasn't the musical technique, it was the raw three chord power. i'm doing a band called oasis next. who you probably also wont have ever heard of. pretty sure that you can find all these bands on youtube though. i'd send links, but as everbody knows, i know bugger all about computers, and can't even turn it on without shouting at it ha ha - pauly ramone and the rockaway hound.
